Important Information

We do not crop ears on any breed or dock tails on puppies older than 5 days. Specialty surgery needs are referred to our associate experts who have vast experience in their fields. Please click on the Referral Clinics link for more information.

In those circumstances where surgery is necessary or recommended for the health of your pet, we take the utmost care. To maximize safety, we recommend a pre-anesthetic blood profile to alert the doctor to the presence of certain unexpected medical conditions prior to the administration of anesthesia. Placement of an intravenous catheter with fluid administration allows us to maintain your pet’s normal blood pressure or to quickly administer emergency medications, if needed. (Please see our Pre-Anesthesia Info for details on both of these items.) In addition, we utilize the most up-to-date surgical techniques and procedures and your pet is continually monitored by our trained staff using modern monitoring equipment. Your pet receives constant nursing care following surgery to ensure it is warm, comfortable, and recovering appropriately. Pain medication is administered at the optimal time to help your pet through its recovery period, relieving any associated pain and stress. Our goal is for your pet to have the best surgical experience possible with the most successful outcome!

Before releasing your pet from the hospital, we will ensure that you thoroughly understand any after-care and follow-up directions, and are always available to address any questions or concerns during the at-home recovery period. We anticipate that our surgical patients will enjoy a full and uneventful recovery with improved health and wellness as a result!
